Earlier we talked how we can secure facebook account from hackers even they know our password. Now, Google has also launched that feature called "2-Step Verification" which makes users able to secure their Google accounts and Gmail account from hackers even they their passwords. Its really an innovative feature providing more security on internet. One must use this feature to secure their accounts from others (such as friends) because mostly friends can easily guess your passwords or can answer your security questions and your account become theirs. Here is how you can protect your Google account using 2-Step Verification.

What is 2-Step Verification?

Using 2-step verification will help prevent strangers from accessing your account with just a stolen password. When you sign in with 2-step verification, you'll verify your identity using both a password and a code that you receive on your phone.

How to Use 2-Step Verification ?

2-Step verification is newly launched Google's feature for protection of users accounts. Here is how you can enable this feature.

  • Login in Your Google account and go to http://www.google.com/accounts
  • Here you will an option of "2-Step Verification" click on this link.
  • Here you will be able to "Set up your phone" and "Add backup options in case your phone is unavailable."
  • Simply, click on "Set up 2-step verification" button.
  • Now, select the appropriate option from the menu and click on next.


  • Lets say you go with "Text Message (SMS) or voice call" option. Enter your mobile number in international format i.e. including your country code and area code.
  • Now Click on "SEND CODE", Google will send you a code on your given number, get that code and paste in the Google 2-step verification page.


  • Thats it, You have successfully activated your 2-Step Verification. Now, strangers, even they know your password, can not use your accounts as they never will be able to get the code that Google sends on your mobile upon login.
